Luuk Borg

Policy Advisor at European Commission

Graduated in Public Administration at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam and in international economical science at the University of California Davis.

After working in the private sector for several years he joined the Ministry of Economic affairs of the Netherlands in 1992 where he held different positions in the field of Innovation, trade promotion, patents and EU R&D programmes. In July 2007 he moved to Brussels to set up the Eurostars Programme for R&D performing SMEs.

On January 1st 2013 he joined the European Commission, DG CNECT Unit micro-electronics and components. Now he is working on support policies in the framework of Startups and Innovation. This comprises activities for access to finance for SMEs such as Business Angels and Crowd Funding, the Innovation Radar Progamme and several other responsibilities related to technology development programmes and financial engineering.

Luuk Borg developed a 25 years track record in the setting up and implementation of Intergovernmental, Community and Joint Programmes for close to market innovation and technology development. He is married and has 4 children.
